We also welcome AstraQua, relocating from California to Kentucky.

Recent Wins

The Community Foundation of Louisville announced six early-stage companies selected for its 2026 Vogt Awards. KY Inno is accepting nominations for KY Inno Startups to Watch for 2027 until November 16.

Exits

A startup exit is when the founders and investors of a startup cash out — usually by selling the company or taking it public. It’s essentially the endgame for most startups, where all the effort (and risk) ideally turns into a financial reward.

We have no exits to celebrate this past quarter.

Capital

Since January 1 of this calendar year, Kentucky has had 79 startups funded with $143,858,139 in early-stage investment.

Of note this past quarter:

  • In the SOAR region, Eastern Light Distilling raised $38.85 million of Series B venture funding from Tri State Angel Investment Group and undisclosed investors in September 2026. The funds will be used to advance a $143 million Kentucky distillery.

  • In the Awesome region, Omega Ophthalmics raised $7 million of Series A venture funding from undisclosed investors in August 2026. The funds will be used to support company expansion as it prepares for future FDA studies and commercialization.

Kentucky Innovation Hubs News

Operated by Blue North, SparkHaus celebrated its first year with all 35 private offices occupied and more than 470 members. Its summer Shinkle Fellows program enabled three college founders to work full-time on their startups.

Awesome Inc's Kentucky Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame event on November 4 at the Central Bank Center in Lexington will be inducting emerging entrepreneurs.

CREATE is holding their annual Small Business Summit at WKU's Innovation Campus on November 6 in Bowling Green.

Sprocket is celebrating the 5th anniversary of their co-working space on December 3 in Paducah.

We're looking forward to seeing many of you at your Global Entrepreneurship Week events planned for November 16-20, 2026.

Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition is gaining momentum. A completed acquisition or significant buyer-seller milestone occurring during the quarter is stronger evidence of progress than simply reporting organizational activity.
