The Kentucky Procurement Technical Assistance Center Announces Their Newest Regional Office Located in Western KY

Paducah, KY. July 20, 2021: As the primary provider for government contracting assistance in Kentucky, the Kentucky Procurement Technical Assistance Center (KYPTAC) has recently added a new office in western Kentucky to increase economic development opportunities in the region and to better accommodate the business community.

KYPTAC, an initiative of the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC), promotes economic development and private sector business growth by providing FREE assistance to companies interested in providing products or services to federal, state, and local governments, which annually offer billions of dollars in contracts to the private sector. In 2020, KYPTAC helped over 1700 Kentucky-based companies procure over $736MM in Federal and State government contracts. KYPTAC consultants help with contracting-readiness, assisting with the registration process, and market research.

“Plans to increase support for western Kentucky businesses were initiated after conducting a thorough analysis of the state’s biggest procurement opportunities and consulting with the Kentucky Cabinet of Economic Development, community leaders, businesses and entrepreneurs earlier this year,” said Nancy Brown, the Executive Director of KYPTAC. “The region is filled with untapped contracting opportunities that Kentucky small businesses should know about and have access to,” said Brown. “Our desired outcome from this expansion is to remove obstacles for small businesses that want to sell to the government. We have a great opportunity to increase our ability to service our current and future clients through our newest team member and consultant Frank Bennett,” said Nancy Brown, the Executive Director of KYPTAC.

Frank Bennett, former National Quilt Museum Chief Executive Officer (CEO), joined the KYPTAC team in mid-July. Bennett aims to bring new opportunities into the west Kentucky economy and help area businesses grow.

Bennett stated, "I'm excited to lead KYPTAC's efforts to expand west Kentucky's economy through government procurement opportunities. Economic growth and business expansion in west Kentucky are important to me because the strength of our economy affects everyone that calls this area home. Local businesses receiving government contract work will ultimately create business growth, job growth and benefit the overall community. KYPTAC is an amazing organization that makes a significant impact throughout the Commonwealth. I am thrilled to join their team and I’m excited to serve my community in this way!”

Bennett will serve as the procurement consultant for west Kentucky. The west Kentucky branch will be located in Paducah and become KYPTAC's fifth office statewide. Other KYPTAC locations include Lexington, Bowling Green, Elizabethtown and Somerset. The KYPTAC plans to open locations in Louisville and Covington in 2021.
