KSTC (, a statewide independent and innovative non-profit and leader in developing and managing creative initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, and economic competitiveness, is seeking a full-time Operations + Platform Manager as we take our venture programs, including the seed stage Kentucky Enterprise Fund (KEF), to the next level.  We are looking for someone who has the necessary experience and insight that can reexamine our current processes, portfolio and alumni network and further engage our regional tech ecosystems and scale venture capital’s impact in Kentucky. (   


Position Overview:

The Operations + Platform Manager is responsible, for building positive program awareness and engagement for the firm and our portfolio companies, in addition to driving efficiencies within our operations and providing support to our portfolio companies.


With this foundational generalist role spanning portfolio support, operations, and program development & positioning, the ideal candidate possesses a broad set of skills to not only drive investor and platform initiatives but also help establish core operational best practices that will allow our organization to best serve its clients and customers and maximize return to Kentucky’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, our investors, and KSTC.


This position will report to Executive Director of Venture Finance at KSTC, interact with internal partner programs, and utilize shared staff and resources across the firm.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Improve or establish organizational best practices around the deal investment process (application to close)

    • Design and develop tools and processes from application through onboarding, and tracking.

    • Manage portfolio alumni and extended networks of advisory, governance and subject matter expertise.

    • Establish, set and manage practice wide OKRs, and goals for performance and growth.

  • Identify and establish portfolio support resources

    • Identify, source and audit resources, services, vendors and network connections for benefit of portfolio platform.

    • Develop talent access, apprentice/intern programs and talent network.

    • Maintenance and delivery of best practices, templates, and guides


Pipeline Development & Positioning:

  • Establish efforts, outreach, and PR strategy to portfolio companies including portfolio related news and amplification of companies’ own marketing work.

  • Develop and direct the public identity and investor relations for the Kentucky Enterprise Fund and associated venture finance programs

    • Coordinate with KSTC and/or external resources to design, implement, and establish social presence and brand guidelines.

    • Author and manage authoring/packaging and publishing of ongoing formats across multiple channels.

    • Manage timing and strategy of content and communications.

  • Identify and establish tracking and reporting strategy, both internally and coordinated with KSTC partners and investors.


Portfolio Platform Support:

  • Provide direct support to portfolio companies to the strengths and capacity of the Operation + Platform Manager.

  • Areas of support may include onboarding post investment, providing introductions to potential customers, other investors and similar, as well as sharing resources for best practices.

  • Explore new ways to meaningfully engage with and support portfolio companies.


Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • US citizen or Permanent Resident

  • 5+ years of experience involving technology startup support and venture capital investing

  • A creative thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

  • Organized with ability to work in fluid environment

  • Able to work with limited supervision and with a team

  • Able to work with a wide range of people including entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, state government personnel, etc.

  • Flexible; willing to approach problems from different angles and ability to get work done on a timely basis


Salary Range:

$70K to $80K/year + benefits package.



The position location is flexible and may be based in Louisville, Lexington, or Northern Kentucky. Due to KSTC headquarters being in Lexington and the statewide nature of our client and customer base, the position may require some travel to stakeholder locations, predominately in Kentucky.
